Terjemahan bebas roh nubuat mengamarkan :
Rasul mengundang perhatian mereka untuk kesalahan yang telah menjadi kelemahan rohani mereka. Kesalahpahaman mereka memberi pandangan yang tidak jelas tentang kekuatan Kristus untuk menjadikan umat-Nya kepujian di bumi.
Bagaimana kondisi mereka menggambarkan kondisi banyak umat Allah dewasa ini, yang memiliki setiap keuntungan, setiap hak istimewa dan barangsiapa merasakan beban pekerjaan TUHAN seharusnya mengatakan dengan sepenuh hati, Inilah aku, Tuhan; utuslah aku.
Tetapi di tempat dimana seharusnya mereka sdh menjadi guru, mereka sendiri tidak dapat menanggung penerapan sederhana dari Firman Allah.
Mereka tidak melihat nilai kebenaran Alkitab. Mereka bukan kekuatan bagi gereja.
Seandainya mereka benar-benar menguduskan diri kepada Tuhan saat penerimaan pertama mereka akan kebenaran, menyerahkan diri mereka tanpa pamrih kepada-Nya, dan menaati panggilan, “Barang siapa akan datang setelah Aku, biarkan dia menyangkal dirinya, dan memikul salibnya, dan mengikut Aku” mereka akan berjalan bersama Kristus, mempelajari pelajaranNya, menerima kesan ilahi-Nya.
Mereka akan mengakui ajaran Kristus dan tidak menjadi separuh orang Kristen dan separuh dunia, tetapi orang Kristen yang sepenuh hati, percaya dan mempraktekkan firman, diterangi terus-menerus, tidak berkutat pada hal-hal umum yang tidak jelas, tetapi menyatakan Kristus sebagai Anak Domba Allah, yang menghapus dosa dunia.

The apostle calls their attention to their fault in this respect, which had become their spiritual infirmity. Their misconceptions gave them an indistinct view of Christ’s power to make his people a praise in the earth. {RH June 16, 1903, Art. A, par. 4}
How exactly their condition represents the condition of many of the people of God today, who have had every advantage, every privilege, and who, feeling the burden of God’s work, ought to be saying with the whole heart, Here I am, Lord; send me. But in the place of being teachers, as they might be, they themselves can not bear the plain application of the Word of God. They do not discern the value of Bible truth. They are not a strength to the church. Had they thoroughly consecrated themselves to the Lord from their first reception of the truth, surrendering themselves unreservedly to him, and obeying the call, “Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me,” they would have walked in the companionship of Christ, learning his lessons, receiving his divine impress. They would have recognized the claims of Christ, and would not have been half Christians and half worldlings, but whole-hearted Christians, believing and practicing the word, enlightened continually, not dwelling on vague generalities, but proclaiming Christ as the Lamb of God, that taketh away the sin of the world. {RH June 16, 1903, Art.
